Physical Education

The PE Department consists of two male and two female members of staff. The Department offers general PE, GCSE (CCEA) Physical Education and BTEC Level 2 & 3 Physical Education.

Aims of Physical Education Department
  1. To aid the personal and social development of the pupils.
  2. To develop knowledge and understanding of the human body and a healthy lifestyle.
  3. To develop the growth and physical attributes of each pupil according to his/her potential
  4. To develop knowledge and understanding of safety factors, training principals, history rules, terminology, mechanical principals and tactics in a range of physical activities
  5. To develop the ability to assess performance in physical activities and become aware of the strengths and limitations of oneself and others.
  6. To develop the psychomotor ability of each pupil according to his/her potential.
  7. To promote an awareness and understanding of sensory and expressive qualities of movement through performer and observer roles.
  8. To promote the positive use of leisure time, encourage participation in games, sport and physical activities as a means of recreation.
Key stage 3

Each student is given eighty minutes of PE per week. Time is allocated on one double period for all year 8 - 10 pupils.
